As part of the celebration of the golden jubilee of the bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Thailand, the South Asia Study Center of Chulalongkorn University, one of the esteemed educational institutions of Thailand, and the Embassy of Bangladesh, Bangkok jointly organized the Book launching Ceremony of the Thai version of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s “”Unfinished Memoirs” “.
Hon’ble Trustee of Center for Research and Information (CRI), Dhaka, Bangladesh Mr. Radwan Mujib Siddiq, and the grandson of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was the Chief Guest in this event. Prof. Narin Hiransuthikul, Vice President of the Chulalongkorn University and Ambassador of Bangladesh to Thailand H.E Mohammed Abdul Hye welcomed the Chief Guest.On this auspicious occasion, a special video message from Dr. A. K. Abdul Momen, M.P. the Hon’ble Foreign Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh was screened. He mentioned the event as a noteworthy part of the golden jubilee celebration of diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and Thailand. He said that Bangabandhu’s message of peace is the main dictum of Bangladesh’s foreign policy – ‘friendship to all, malice towards none’. He appreciated the initive of the Embassy of Bangladesh in Bangkok for the publication of the”Unfinished Memoirs” in Thai.
The Chief Guest of the program Mr. Radwan Mujib Siddiq said that Bangabandhu worked for the people of the country throughout his life. He said that it is not possible to know Bangladesh without knowing Bangabandhu. This book has provided with an excellent opportunity for the present day youth to know the history of Bangladesh through the eyes of the leader who brought independence to his people. Therefore, this translation will help the Thai readers to know Bangabandhu and Bangladesh together. He also thanked the Embassy in Bangkok and the South Asia Study Center of Chulalongkorn University for such an initiative.
