On 17th February 2022 at 09.30-11.30 am., Chulalongkorn University organized special lecture series on “The Importance of Alliances of Civilizations” by Dr.Muhammad bin Abdul Karim Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the Muslim World League according to the special occasion that he will visit the Muslim Studies Center, Institute of Asian Studies, Chulalongkorn University.
In this occasion, Dr.Muhammad bin Abdul Karim Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the Muslim World League give the speech on topic of “The Importance of Alliance of Civilizations”. His speech is about the diversity of civilization which is related to many theories including supportive theories and disagreed theories. However, the most important intention of all civilization is for helping each other. Consequently, in the point of view of Muslim, God Allah created humans for knowing each other under the diversity of civilization, every civilization has their own unique identity and we respect all of them.
Nonetheless, every civilization also has their own inappropriateness, but the most important thing is how all civilizations can live with each other, especially in the practical section for living harmoniously in society. Moreover, about 10% of all civilizations will have the same and relevant values, especially for manners and morals, so it becomes the most important part that all civilizations can see the values of each other.
Actually, there are five main possible principles to build alliances in terms of civilizations and diversity.
Firstly, Muslim and other all religions have to respect each other, it is the good beginning for all civilizations.
Secondly, education, curiosity, and exchanging knowledge are the important cooperation we can do. It will lead to understanding of alliances in terms of civilization.
Thirdly, having alliances in many civilizations can indicate the good relationship as siblings between people. Loving a nation can build harmony and unity between citizens in the nation very well.
Fourthly, even though all civilizations have differences, they still have the same thing which is the need of giving and taking.
Lastly, we can observe that there are always some groups of extremists who use the diversity of civilization as an excuse to riot. It is an inappropriate and bad thing to do because all religions and civilizations have their own advantages which can make success for all civilizations working together.
For building alliances of civilization’s diversity and living together with understanding, Dr.Muhammad bin Abdul Karim Al-Issa said that “it is necessary to teach our children and to create realization that diversity of civilization is not the obstacle for living together, it is the good thing which everyone should be proud of”. At the end of the special lecture, Q&A activity was also provided to participants and mass media. After that, the gifts will be distributed as a token of appreciation by Secretary-General of the Muslim World League and Vice President of Chulalongkorn University. Then, taking photos of Chulalongkorn’s administrators, related organizations, and related departments will be the last activity to end this special lecture
