The Chinese Studies Center, Institute of Asian Studies, Chulalongkorn University, in collaboration with KASIKORNBANK (KBank), held the opening ceremony for K-Academy for Chinese Business Leaders – KCBL Class 1, on January 19, 2024, at KASIKORNBANK, Rat Burana Building. The event was presided over by Mr. Banthoon Lamsam, Chairman Emeritus of KBank, Assoc. Prof. Pavika Sriratanaban, Ph.D., Director of the Institute of Asian Studies, Chulalongkorn University and Mr. Arm Tungnirun, Ph.D., Director of the Chinese Studies Center, Institute of Asian Studies, Chulalongkorn University, along with executives from KBank and other lecturers from Chulalongkorn University welcoming the KCBL participants.
The KCBL program, to be held January 19-April 11, 2024, aims to provide Chinese business leaders insights regarding Thailand’s macroeconomic and microeconomic aspects. It will also serve as a platform for cultivating business networks

Mr. Arm said, “The KCBL program is a result of collaboration between KBank and Chulalongkorn University, bringing together expertise in both business and academia. In this program, KBank will invite executives and experts from various business sectors with hands-on experience to directly share their knowledge. The Chinese Studies Center, Institute of Asian Studies, Chulalongkorn University, the first such research center in Thailand, focuses on Chinese studies and serves as a platform for fostering Thai-Chinese cooperation. In this program, Chulalongkorn University will help participants grasp the diverse insights of the business environment in Thailand, so that they can help their successors lay a solid foundation for success in future business endeavors here.”
The KCBL program covers five main topics, namely:
- Business Context in Thailand
- Thailand-China Relations and Cultural Integration
- Business Laws and Regulations in Thailand
- Financial Services in Thailand
- Sustainable Development
Participants will gain academic knowledge about the Thai business environment and economy based on research and intensive content. They will also have the opportunity to build connections with executives and business operators, as well as engage in discussions with high-level management and government agencies in Thailand. The program topics and formats are designed and planned in a comprehensive manner, allowing
